Virtual Race

A virtual race allows our runners to run or walk their race anywhere, and any time within the virtual race period. The virtual race period for the Toronto Waterfront Marathon is October 1st-31st. The online results platform allows runners to input their time and see their results compared to other runners. Race kits will be mailed to all Virtual participants.

You have from October 1st to 31st at 11:59 p.m. to input your Virtual Race time in to Race Roster.

Wherever you are! The joy of running a Virtual Race is you can start it right outside your front door.

Please follow the guidelines outlined by your local government regarding running outdoors to ensure you are keeping yourself and your community safe. Follow normal street lights and traffic regulations like any typical solo training run you do.

  • Avoid high traffic pedestrian and vehicle areas. Run or walk close to home in your neighbourhood during a quieter time of day.
  • Complete your run on a treadmill, if this is an option that is available to you and that you would prefer.
  • Wear appropriate clothing. Be visible and dress for the weather.
  • Bring water and/or nutrition if you’re planning a longer route.
  • Carry a cell phone with you during your virtual race and tell someone the route you’re running in case of an emergency.

* follow the advice of your local public health authority, to help stop the spread of coronavirus.

You can do the full distance at once or break it into smaller increments over several days. Once complete, visit the Race Roster Results Page to input your cumulative race time.

Participants will be able to upload their distances and times from October 1st to 31st. Once you have completed your activity, you will track it on the Race Roster Results Platform by following these steps:

  • Login to your Participant Dashboard
  • Locate your Toronto Waterfront Marathon virtual race on the right side of your participant dashboard
  • Select the [Post Your Result] button under your virtual race
  • Add the distance and duration of your run and/or walk
