Stella Yim is a full-time soapstone crafter who is currently working in her own studio. Mr. Zwahlen, Yim’s host dad during her student exchange, is the person who sparked her interest in soapstone sculpting because it was his career and also an art that is practiced by many in Switzerland. In Stella’s works, it is not hard to see crossovers of Chinese art and Western sculpting techniques as well. Her works have been exhibited in an art village at Luen Wo Market and cultural events or workshops organized by HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity in Hong Kong. Stella has also been interviewed by multiple media platforms such as ViuTV, RTHK, AppleDaily, MingPao Weekly, UMagazine, Weekend HK and etc. Right now, the artist’s products are available for purchase on sites such as Pinkoi and Creema.
