Neighbour In Need: Lunch Preparation

This year, Across U-hub will be launching a series of “City Warmer: Neighbour In Need” programs, focusing on giving back to the community

Actions speak louder than words. Join us in preparing sandwiches or baked goods to be delivered to those experiencing homelessness in Toronto. Partnering with Ve’ahavta, a Jewish humanitarian organization, Across U-hub aims to create a meaningful hands-on experience for youths to care for our neighbours.

Our sandwiches or baked goods will be delivered to those experiencing homelessness in Scarborough or downtown Toronto through outreach vans that serve our neighbors seven days a week. These vans distribute hundreds of hot meals, baked goods, sandwiches, essential clothing, and hygiene supplies every night.

Objectives

  • Assemble 50 to 100 sandwiches or prepare 150+ baked goods outreach vans
  • Raise awareness about the needs of homeless and at-risk youth in our city
  • Support organizations dedicated to caring for our vulnerable neighbours seven days a week

What will the workshop include?

  • Video and PowerPoint presentation highlighting the facts and needs of homelessness in our city
  • Sandwiches or baked goods preparation
  • Interactive group activities and discussion

** Volunteers earn approximately 2 to 2.5 community hours.
