City Warmer: Neighbour In Need
Collection Drive

Across U-hub will be hosting a collection drive for the City Warmer: Neighbour In Need series.

Actions speak louder than words. For February (February 1st to 29th), Across U-hub will be taking donations of clothing, hygiene products, and blankets to help our fellow Torontonians surviving on low-incomes and experiencing homelessness. All items collected will be sorted, folded and donated to varies Greater Toronto Area’s non-profit organizations which will be distributing your items directly to our neighbours in need.

Objectives

  • Collect 150 pounds of clothing, hygiene products, and blankets for low-income families and those who are experiencing homelessness
  • Raise our awareness of the needs of homelessness and at-risk youth in our city
  • Support organizations who are caring our vulnerable neighbours

When?

Date: February 1 to 29, 2024

Drop Off Hours:
Mon / Wed / Fri:
11:00 am to 5:00 pm

Tue / Thur:
11:00 am to 9:00 pm
(except Feb 1 – drop off ends at 5 pm)

Sat:
Feb 3 – 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Location: Across U-hub
(232 Hood Road, Markham)

How?

  • Please refer to the Collection List for items that will be accepted for donation.
  • Drop off your donation at Across U-hub during Drop-Off Hours.
  • Please separate clothing, hygiene products, and blankets into different bags in advance, and place them in the designated bins when you arrive at Across U-hub.

Donation Guidelines

All donated items must be in good condition,
freshly laundered, and free of rips, tears, and stains.

(If you wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing it –
that’s a good indicator someone else wouldn’t either.)

Please read carefully the items we will be collecting.

Items we Accept:

Adult Clothing (for all genders)

NEW or gently used clothing:

  • Hoodies
  • Sweaters
  • Long sleeve shirts (thermal)
  • Socks (NEW)
  • Jeans
  • Caps / Hats
  • Track pants with drawstring (especially sizes 28 and up)
  • Gloves / Mittens / Scarves
  • Winter coats / Fleece jackets
  • Footwear and shoes in good condition

Adult Clothing: (for women)

  • Business professional attire
  • Professional blazers, blouses, skirts, dress pants, dresses
  • Work appropriate shoes and boots
  • Purses / Handbags
  • Jewelry, belts, and scarves

NEW Toiletries:

  • Shampoo, conditioner, and soap
  • Deodorants
  • Hairbrushes / combs
  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste
  • Body lotion
  • Lip balm
  • Washcloth

Bedding and Linens: (New or gently used)

  • Blankets
  • Sleeping bags

NEW Kitchen Supplies:

  • Ziploc bags (sandwich size)

NEW Food Supplies:

  • Peanut Butter (any size)
  • Fruit Jam (any size)

Items we DO NOT Accept:

  • Stained or ripped clothes
  • Used underwear or socks
  • Children’s clothing
  • Toys
  • Expired food
