CRAFTERIA - Bread Lab

Crafteria is a combination of the English word “Craft” and Spanish – “tería”, which means a place/hub where something is done.

Crafteria has not only served as a platform for talented instructors to share their passion for the arts but has also functioned as a gathering place for those interested in exploring various art forms. It provides an opportunity for art enthusiasts to connect with like-minded individuals, giving themselves two hours per week for some personal time to unwind, reduce stress, and focus on hands-on crafting, which can have a positive impact on their overall mental well-being.

In this Crafteria project series, we offer unique arts and handmade crafts workshops for youth, from craft coffee, candle making, concrete casting, leather work, bread making to crochet making.

Who is the instructor?

Teresa Chan
Teresa baked her first bread at George Brown College a decade ago. Inspired by her mom, she adopted baking as a hobby, exploring various baking products through trial and error. Over time, she discovered the magic of bread: observing the mixing of simple ingredients – water, flour, yeast, and salt – into something unique is like witnessing a small miracle each time.

In the upcoming Bread Lab, Teresa will share her homemade tips on bread making, guiding us step-by-step to craft our own bread. We’ll also have the opportunity to taste bread made with different ingredients and baking techniques. Teresa believes that everyone has a unique palate that appreciates specific types of bread. Join the Bread Lab for an enjoyable experience and connect with like-minded individuals through various bread experiments.
