City Warmer is a series of volunteer programs focusing on community service and supporting underprivileged individuals. This initiative provides participants with a meaningful, hands-on experience, fostering empathy and compassion through direct action.

This program focuses on food insecurity, giving participants an opportunity to learn, reflect, and take action.
Join our “Shopping for Food” challenge during March Break, where you will shop for essential food items for our neighbours. Then, visit the Markham Food Bank to donate your purchases and gain insight into how food bank operates through an interactive tour.
What is Markham Food Bank?

Objectives
- Raise Awareness of Food Insecurity:
Understand the root causes and impact of food insecurity in the community. - Promote Social Responsibility:
Inspire youth to develop empathy and take action to support those in need. - Provide Hands-on Learning Experiences:
Explore food bank operations, including food collection, sorting, and distribution.

- Interactive group activities and discussions
- “Shopping for Food” challenge — participants select and purchase food donations based on real needs
- Tour and presentation by the President of Markham Food Bank
